Weeks Marine acted as the general contractor for the rehabilitation of Statoil’s Grand Bahama Sea Island – a dual VLCC berth crude oil marine terminal located on 100ft deep water & 3,000ft from the shoreline. The scope of work included the installation of three new berthing dolphins (BDs), the removal and installation of three boat landings stages, the installation of ten new bridges, and associated concrete repairs to the existing mooring dolphins and loading platform.

Each BD was comprised of three 180 ton 78”x 180ft steel pipe piles structurally connected with a 200ton jacket structure. Each pile was installed inside 40’ long rock sockets and secured to the bedrock with cast-in-place concrete. The rock sockets were drilled using a pile top drill and temporary casing setup, and the concrete was placed using a pump-tremie system. Also included in the scope of work was the loadout, tie-down and transportation of all permanent materials for the project.
