WMI was contracted by the Corps of Engineers Baltimore District to perform maintenance and new work dredging of approximately 4.6M cubic yards of material from the Baltimore Harbor inner channels and anchorages. Two large clamshell dredges using 26 cy buckets performed the new work dredging. The material was loaded into barges and hydraulically unloaded at Hart-Miller Island upland disposal facility located 15 nautical miles from the dredge site. A total of 6 barges and 6 tugboats were used to transport the dredged material. WMI was successful in managing numerous pieces of equipment and modifying its dredging technique to efficiently accomplish the new work dredging project.
