Weeks Marine, Inc.'s stevedoring division is based in the Port of New York/New Jersey and is one of the largest stevedores on the East Coast of the United States. Weeks is uniquely equipped to provide rapid, efficient and economical services to a wide variety of customers.
We are the only stevedore on the East Coast to have in our equipment inventory four model 28 Clyde Gantry Cranes, which are equipped with 28 cubic-yard rehandling buckets for granular cargoes such as salt and coal and 11 cubic-yard grapples for rough bulk such as scrap and stone. Each of these cranes is gantry mounted and capable of handling Cape sized vessels. The gantries traverse the full length of the 250' barge which expedites operations with the ability to discharge and machine clean two or more holds at one time.
Weeks Marine also owns and operates floating cranes with lower capacity and smaller attachments sizes for barge work and more cost effective material handling on aggregate and soil movement projects. Any of these floating cranes can be quickly dispatched to your facility or ours on the East or Gulf Coasts to handle all bulk products such as scrap iron, coal, salt, paving stone, minerals, soils or stone. At your terminal we may handle commodities between an ocean carrier and barge, truck, second vessel or shore side receiving systems.
The Stevedoring Division currently has an operating range from Nova Scotia to Tampa, Florida with on-going operations in Providence, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Norfolk, VA.
Weeks Marine has the ability to offer our customers a complete package of stevedoring services in our Port Newark Terminal. For ship loading operations, we can weigh, receive, stockpile, store and reload for outbound shipment by land or sea. We have recently performed ship to ship transfers to accommodate ship call berth reductions, avoid ocean carrier demurrage penalties or accommodate mother ship to feeder ship plans.
Weeks' personnel have the experience and expertise to help customers design and/or verify the proper vessel selection for their particular commodity and create cargo stowing plans to suit all types of cargoes in different ports or terminals.
Weeks Marine has the capability and desire to work with you in meeting your bulk stevedoring requirements. Our experienced full-time operators are available to assist you round-the-clock to ensure that your cargo is properly handled in minimal time.
