![]() | Healy Tibbitts Builders, Inc. specializes in marine construction and pile driving for foundations and deep shoring systems. Healy’s areas of expertise include construction of piers and wharves, submarine pipelines and cables, offshore structures, dredging, pile driving, marine heavy lifts, bulk stevedoring and marine transportation. The company’s roots date back to 1886 when two San Francisco waterfront workers decided to start their own construction company. Twenty years later, Healy was tasked to clear rubble and help rebuild San Francisco after the disastrous 1906 earthquake. Healy continued to grow through the 1900’s as a marine and foundation contractor both domestically and internationally.
It was in 1963 that Healy first came to Hawaii to take on several challenging projects including Hawaii Kai Development’s Sandy Beach Ocean Outfall Pipeline and the Corps of Engineer’s Kahului Harbor Breakwater Repair. A permanent office was established in Hawaii to handle both Hawaii and Pacific Rim projects. In the late 60’s, Healy became a subsidiary of Raymond International, a billion dollar mega construction company. Raymond ran into financial difficulty in the late 80’s and as a result, Healy was sold to its current parent company, Weeks Marine, Inc., an Engineering News Record Top 400 contractor specializing in dredging and marine construction. With Weeks Marine’s strong financial support and abundant equipment resources, Healy’s Hawaii office experienced significant growth over the last 16 years and now achieves annual revenue in the $30 to $40 million range.
