Navigation Infrastructure

Weeks Dredging Division is a major provider of maintenance dredging for navigation channels serving U.S. seaports. Maintaining reliable ship channels and ports is vital to our national security and to America’s leadership in the world marketplace. As world trade continues to grow exponentially, the demand for cost savings in shipping and transportation has driven up the size of ships. In some cases, deeper channels are authorized by Congress to meet this need. In other cases, always keeping the existing authorized dimensions at grade is now of paramount importance.

Weeks Marine is the largest provider of dredging services in the Gulf of Mexico, where two-thirds of all U.S. dredging occurs. The company moves more sediment annually than any other U.S. dredging contractor. Because Weeks Marine owns and operates all three primary types of dredges and a variety of other specialized heavy equipment, it has the capability and flexibility to meet the challenges of any job, large or small.

The close integration of the Dredging Division and Construction Division can provide efficient, turnkey solutions for large-scale construction projects such as new marine terminals for the U.S. Navy, private terminal operators, and state and local port authorities.
